A life lived fully for Jesus Christ is a challenging one. It means constantly saying “no” to the distractions from the world, even those that might seem fairly harmless. For this reason, many people choose to walk away from discipleship.
Discipleship is a free choice. We worship a God who loves freely and wants us to do so in return ...freely. Our stewardship is a gift of self and is not meant to be offered out of obligation. Obligatory giving does not bring about joy...rather, it creates resentment.
In just a few weeks, we will begin the Stewardship Renewal process. Now we have the opportunity to begin thinking and praying about ways we can give back to God freely and share in the joy that comes from serving Him and His people.
Those who with God's help have welcomed Christ's call and freely responded to it are urged on by love of Christ to proclaim the Good News everywhere in the world. This treasure, received from the apostles, has been faithfully guarded by their successors. All Christ's faithful are called to hand it on from generation to generation, by professing the faith, by living it in fraternal sharing, and by celebrating it in liturgy and prayer.
